Shaunna is the one who turned me on to ABLE and the Alem Backpack in Cognac.  It is made of the softest leather and is the perfect size.  It’s just big enough to fit a 15″ laptop along with notebooks, books, pouches and pencil rolls that can fit in either the two larger zippered openings or the smaller front pocket.

I am also drawn to the fact that it looks modern, but has vintage sensibility.

Since purchasing this backpack, I use it to carry my reading materials, art suupplies, and sometimes my computer when I’m carting my boys around to their activities.  And it’s going to be coming with me to Europe!

I fell in love with this backpack two summers ago for two reasons: I love ABLE’s leather goods and this color is the perfect neutral and I knew  it would make my traveling office-style life easier.  I turned out to be right on the latter, although I had no idea how correct I would be. 

When I tell you I’ve used this backpack every single day in that time, I mean it.  It goes to and from work with me (I have commuted a LOT in this last few years) each week, as well as on trips throughout the year, and all that has happened is the leather is a little softer.  That’s it.  Talk about a workhorse.  A beautiful, incredibly functional workhorse!
